Clapham Area Guide

The ever fashionable Clapham is one of London’s most attractive places to live. With a phenomenal social scene, eclectic mixture of bars and restaurants, and a plethora of green space this cultural hub has something for everyone.

Clapham is known for having a great selection of bars, restaurants and a thriving nightlife. The High Street is littered with a variety of shops and eateries for all cuisines. You really are spoiled for choice when dining out in Clapham. Designer bars and clubs can also be found scattered down the long stretch from Clapham North to the Common.

Clapham Junction has a lot more to offer in the way of shopping. With a variety of clothing shops and a large department store, the area is always heaving with local residents out for some retail therapy. Clapham Junction is also home to the Clapham Grand, a famous venue that stages a variety of events and performances.

At the heart of Clapham is the Common which plays host to many summer events, and offers residents a welcome oasis from city life all year around.

Wandsworth Common is another green haven, and is located just a short walk away. With a lot more to offer in terms of flora and fauna, Wandsworth Common is definitely the place to go if you’re looking to escape in a bit of nature.

Clapham has great transport links including three underground stations all on the Northern line. The area also boasts Clapham Junction rail station – which is famously Britain’s busiest railway station – and a new cycle super highway which takes cyclists just 30 minutes to reach Westminster.

The range of property on offer in Clapham is superb. Although the majority of properties are Victorian, there is a variety of period houses around Clapham Old town and by the Common. The area also benefits from a spattering of mansion blocks which provide popular, high spec period flats.
